Comparison of the Porosity of Aluminum Alloys Castings Produced by Squeeze Casting

The results of researches on porosity and structure castings from AlMg9, AlSi7Mg AlCu4Ti alloys produced by squeeze casting for comparison gravity die are presented. tests were carried out 200x100x25mm plates casted under 90MPa pressure. Prior to the commencement experimental studies, numerical simulations solidification made selected alloy (AlSi7Mg) in order determine potential locations shrinkage porosity. As part study, distribution plate cast was assessed taking samples measurements center edge casting. It found that area particularly vulnerable presence is central zone extending its upper surface. Due wide temperature range examined alloys, diffused occurs castings, shape pores formed conditioned morphology. average two times smaller than at level 1.0-1.5% depending type alloy. In addition, as a result pressing, reduced becomes uniform throughout volume. High pressure acting solidifying ensures significant increase grains density microstructure decrease SDAS.
